Video Games Gender Roles
My dad has this absurd thought (regarding video games and people)?
So let’s say a guy wants to spend a lot of time on an MMORPG (Major Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game). Most of the time, he will be looking at the back-end of his character and, granted he isn’t gay or bisexual, he doesn’t want to stare at a man’s butt for hours. So, he makes a female character that he can drool or salivate over as he plays.
Well, a lot of men do this…and even if it may seem creepy…Dad has this idea that, if a man does this, he has either
a) gender identity issues
or
b) other related mental problems
So, according to him, 50% of the male MMORPG players in the world are transexuals or mentally disturbed. Is this reasonable?
And before you judge…I LOVE my dad to death and we are very close.
Have you considered the possibility that your dad is just ribbing you?
The idea of using a female character, because you would rather be looking at a woman than a man is obviously understandable.
That is why the main character in the Tomb Raider series is a woman with very tight shorts, and looks like the winner of a miss wet t-shirt competition.
It’s a bit of a no win situation, because if you spent alot of time staring at a mans butt for hours instead, then he could make something out of that.
