Scientists at the University of Rochester in the United States led by Daphne Bavelier, professor of brain and cognitive sciences, are studying fast-paced action video games such as Medal of Honor, Unreal Tournament and Call of Duty. They’ve found that in particular, first person shooters may help develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination; they may also improve your attention and working memory and enhance your vision.
The interesting thing is, these skills translate into real life situations. You may need to use your peripheral vision to spot an enemy in Call of Duty, in the real world that same peripheral vision is needed when driving a car.

yes and possibly no. Yes because of the statement in your question, but possibly no because a lot of people play video games with their face less than 3 feet away from the screen, which over time, may damage your eyes.
