ATI 5770 or NVIDIA ?
I’m looking for a new video card in the $140-175 price range. Been awhile, so I’m behind as to the best options. The ati 5770 seems ok, but what is the comparable nvidia card now? I also am going to upgrade my power supply to an Antec Earthwatts 650 (my pc has a standard 350W). My current pc is 2 1/2 yrs old. It has an intel quad core Q6700 processer, 6 GB ram, nvidia 9500GS video card.
It plays most games fine (Half-Life2.Bioshock,Mass Effect 1, 2. but games like crysis I have to back off on the resolution. They still are very playable, but I want to look ahead as video games keep getting better…looking forward to Crysis 2 in March 2011.
Also, besides playing games, I edit video’s using Pinnacle Studio Plus version12.
Anyway, any suggestions would be appreciated!!
PS…i realize ati is now has the 68xx series, but they are probably out of what I’d like to spend.

i relaise its just over what you want to spend but iv just got one and im so impressed
it beats OC’ed 460s in alot of benchmarks and has no trouble maxing out crysis at a res of 1920 x 1080
im accepting i wont be able to max out crysis 2 as those graphics look IMMENSE but im expecting to be playing at 1080p on medium settings
your other options are the 5770 hd that iv just upgraded from that i would get off ebay rather than new and you could grab for probably aroun $100 – 120 performs about the same as a gtx 450 (again another option) or wait for the 6770 hd but i wouldnt expect anythign special from that card
i think when looking for a new card unless willing to invest in a gtx 580 or a ati 6970 in a couple of day your not maxing out crysis 2, the same issue as when crysis came out, its years ahead of its time so unless you have the best of the best of the best your not maxing it out, and even if you have it will probably make some of the better gaming rigs bleed
